Another Autumn Walk

Coast and Common

1-2 hours East to West Runton via the old track between the two halves of this parish,  parallel to the coast road.  This track was taken by Victorian school children(as there was one school for both the Runtons) and pall bearers, who used to stop for a drink from a spring at Oxwell Cross which is on the coast road.

Park at the Beach Road car park and walk along the High Street in the direction of Sheringham (ie past the shop and cafe) until you get to Thain's Lane on your left.

Walk up  the hill a (parallel to the coast road), past the old forge until you get to the railway bridge.  If you turn left here you will go down Brick Lane, the site of the old brick works and back into East Runton.  Turn right and follow the track all the way to West Runton. The last part of the track takes you alongside the golf course and this is where the track comes out.

Turn right into the village, past the common and over the railway bridge, where you can look around the camping shop or have tea at Lara's Cafe.

Either retrace your steps, or better still walk down Water Lane which is opposite the shops and at the side of The Village Inn and leads to the beach.  Walk  along the beach towards the pier and Cromer, completing the circle at East Runton.

Gallery owner Hilary Hann believes that buying art should be as simple as popping out for some organic spuds!

She's organised the Cromer Print Fair over the May Bank Holiday along the lines of a Farmers' Market, so art lovers can buy excellent quality art direct from the makers - at very reasonable prices.

Half the woman, twice the confidence!

Inspired BreaksAnyone who has tried to lose weight and failed will know it’s not about food – it’s all about self-confidence. Having reached the realms of ‘morbid obesity’, Dee Dee Lomax decided it was time to stop going on diets and instead figure out why they never worked.

She turned to Worstead-based Life Coach and Hypnotherapist Maire Smith for help.Maire set about reprogramming the way Dee Dee viewed food – resulting in an amazing eight stone weight loss.

Dee Dee, who runs Felbrigg Lodge at Aylmerton, said: “Maire has helped me rebuild my self-esteem and confidence. I was trapped in a cycle that she helped me break. I would constantly start diets, then feel deprived and overeat. Then I would feel a complete failure and eat for comfort. I just got bigger and bigger, feeling utterly miserable.”

When asked the question ‘What do you do?’ I always take a deep breath and hesitate before replying. On a bad day I worry that I will be seen as a Jill-of-all-trades and mistress of none; on a good day and with a sympathetic ear in front of me I can really revel in my diverse life. So, in the revelling mode, let me continue. Taking my most recent diversification I am able to say that I am now an artist.
